Experience makes me agree. When I started journaling, my diary entries were purely emotional — why can’t I do [x], why am I such a loser and so on. Slowly, I started recognizing the emphasis on emotions rather than steps to take corrective action. Rather than asking myself “Why can’t I?” I started asking myself, “How should I?”

The result is a more rational mind and a less emotional and self-indicting one.
