I have a personal experience of this.

I quoted a popular VC in something and shared it with him. He asked me to tag his firm in a tweet and he would get it retweeted.

I emailed him that I had tagged him on LinkedIn followed by, "I'm starting to sound greedy 😁." Nothing more.

He ended up liking and commenting on the LinkedIn post as well, which further enhanced its reach.
