This is really interesting. Lately, I've become aware of the bias of taking up easier tasks so I feel busy but don't feel guilty to avoid tougher ones. It's easy for me to build a website from a template than simplify a complex topic. But if I have to work on my podcast (which is a tougher goal), I would rather work on my writing.

So I've begun to say no tasks that are easy for me, and instead, take up tasks that stretch me cognitively. The degrees to which they stretch me may vary, but most of them engage me in cognitive cross-fits nonetheless. Thus, even if I avoid a really tough task for an "easier" one, the latter is still one that stretches my abilities.
